A New Year’s Diet Resolution Buster

January in Northeast Ohio is just the longest, roughest month of the year.  It’s just a depressing boring time of the year.    What would make it more exciting????  Making cookies.

So I looked through my recipes and I looked around online to find something that would satisfy everyone’s cravings.  I found the recipe for these……

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Mmmmm!  Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.  If you want the recipe just click the picture and it will take you to the recipe.

These were perfect mix of everything that we were hungry for.  They have chocolate, they have peanut butter and they have oatmeal.  They are a perfect combination.  The recipe also doesn’t make too many cookies but just the right amount.  Good thing too, if it made any more I’d weigh 400 pounds!

Happy New Year!

amarylisHappy New Year!  I hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday season.  We have had a really nice holiday season this year.  Brandon has been on vacation and we have just been hanging out at home and doing some visiting too.

Everyone had a really nice Christmas.  Just look at what my sister and brother-in-law sent for me!

I just love it!  It looks perfect by our castle.

Now it is on to the new year.  I listed Brandon’s newest masterpiece, the Seahorse figural nutcracker, on Ebay today.

I was happy to have family and friends see it completed.  Everyone loves it, so do I.  It is truly beautiful.

Some Early Christmas Gifts

We have been celebrating Christmas for a while here.  While we were on vacation this year Brandon bought me a couple Christmas gifts that we’ve been enjoying ever since.

We saw this castle in only one gift shop in the Magic Kingdom and knew if we didn’t buy it we’d never see it again.

We also bought a Haunted Mansion……

I know it’s not very Christmas like but we love it!!!!

I have a few Dept. 56 Snow Village buildings but haven’t bought any new ones in a few years.  I am totally thrilled with our Disney purchases!

Did you notice the Seahorse!  It is a nutcracker that Brandon designed and carved.  Isn’t it beautiful!

It will be listed on Ebay.  I’m just waiting for his okay to list it……  Check his blog.  I will post more pictures there and also announce when I do list it.

Well, off to bake some cookies!

This Year’s Gingerbread House…..

With all the snow we have been getting, it sure does look like Christmas.  The house is decorated, gifts are bought, now it is time to start baking.

So with our blizzard like weather last week I decided to make this year’s gingerbread house.  I looked around online and decided that I didn’t want to try to make something elaborate I wanted to make something simple.  Something that wouldn’t take two weeks to complete!  I found a template on Martha Stewart’s website and also a recipe for making the house from a chocolate cookie dough.  I thought that would be easier, why not try it?

Well, that didn’t work out so good.  That cookie recipe just didn’t work for me.  I made them and they just cracked when I took them off the cookie sheet. :-(   So gingerbread it was.

It took me a couple days to get it done….thanks to the weather and my running out of eggs!  Nevertheless, it is done and here is 2010′s Christmas Gingerbread House!gingerbread_front

I used egg whites instead of meringue powder to make my icing and it has a hint of yellow to it.  Oh well, live and learn!

Next,  it’s time to make  Christmas Cookies and I am going to try my hand at making some candy!?
