Birthday Chain Maille Bracelet

Along with Dane’s party over the weekend we also celebrated my mom’s, my dad’s, and Brandon’s dad’s birthdays too.

It is hard to buy things for my parents because they have everything and if they want something they just go and buy it.  After racking my brain trying to figure out what to buy for my mom I decided I would make her a bracelet that I had been wanting to make for a while.

I really enjoy making jewelry but have gotten away from doing it.  After making this bracelet for my mom I think I have re-caught the jewelry bug.  I can see more jewelry making in my future!

Birthday Bash

It’s been awhile since my last post.  This time of the year gets really hectic for us.  Our family has 5 birthdays all in a matter of a few weeks it’s like birthday-palooza.   Dane’s birthday is included in this stretch of birthdays and this year he turned 13.

I had asked him for the past month how he wanted his cake decorated.  He finally decided on Wednesday that he wanted it decorated  like one of his favorite video games….”Resident Evil -The  Umbrella Chronicles” and we would put the Umbrella symbol on his cake.

This year was the first time I worked with fondant.  It was a learning experience but I really enjoyed it.  I made my own Marshmallow Fondant Thursday so it could sit overnight.  I made the cakes early Friday morning then I started decorating and by 2:30 it was completed!

Dane was very happy with his cake and with his birthday!  He got some really great gifts and we got him a new computer which really surprised him!  Now he won’t be using mine all the time and I can go back to using mine whenever I want!  Maybe now I will post more often.  :-)
