This Is Halloween!!!

It is time to light the pumpkins and wear our costumes!

Friday we had a beautifully warm sunny day to carve our pumpkins.  I cleaned out the pumpkins, I only bled a little    Dane, our son, carved 3 and Brandon and I both carved 2 each.  This year we just did old fashioned pumpkin carving instead of the elaborate patterns and it was much more enjoyable.   We grew our own pumpkins this year and what I learned from that is….next year we need to plant more!  We ended up with 9 pumpkins from three plants.  Next year we will be down to grapes, hops, maybe some berry plants and just a few tomato plants in the garden.  The field at the back of our property is going to be planted with lots of pumpkins!  I just love pumpkins!

Tonight is Trick-Or-Treating!  Maybe this year we will get a few kids!  Last year we didn’t even get one……Since we moved to the country it’s the only thing I miss.  We used to get hundreds now we are lucky if we get a couple….But we are ready for them if they come!  Dane is looking forward to going Trick-Or-Treating.  He is going to be a scary magician and he is going  Trick-or-Treating with his friend.  There is lots of candy to be had!

More pictures later!!!!!!

Husband’s Newest Nutcracker

Brandon, my hubby, has been very busy.  He carved another Skull Nutcracker for the Halloween Season and it is now listed on Ebay.  It is the forth one he has done and they are one of my favorites.  His work is exceptional  and you can go over to his blog or our website to see his incredible works.

It’s almost the big day, and we are looking forward to having some trick or treat fun!  Maybe we’ll rent some scary movies this weekend to get in the spirit….

Our son has not decided on a costume yet and I am sure that we (or I)  will be putting it together this weekend and upcoming week!

The Kitty’s Name Is……….

After much hard deliberation by our son, the name has been chosen.  Our kittens name is (drumroll……….)  Shadow.  It has turned out to be the perfect name as he follows our gray cat, Leo, everywhere.  Leo has been quite tolerant of the whole ordeal but they have their moments too.

All in all, the cats are getting along much better than I had expected.  Monday night they all were quite calm so I got a few pictures of them……

First off is Molly.  Our oldest cat and our most sassy.  She is freindly one minute and the next she is hissing and thwapping you with her strong front paws.  Our sassy girl does like to dress up.  She thinks she looks beautiful. Here she is in her devil costume and in her jester collar!

Then little Shadow kitty didn’t really want to play dress up.  I did manage to get the devil horns on him.  They were a little too big though…..

Leo wanted no part in the costume event.  He does not ever want to wear any costume….

I want to thank everyone who participated in our Kitty Naming Poll.  Our son was pretty stressed about picking the name for the kitty seeing it as quite a big responsibility.  He did not want to make a bad decision.  I think he did an excellent job.  Our Shadow is just what the kitty is.

I See Winners In The Future!

I checked the clock in the skull…..

skullwithclocktime Yep, It was time to pick some winners!!!!!!!

The fortune telling skull of Zoltar suggested we number each entry and we throw them into a witches hat…….Have the young man of the house draw the winning numbers……….

The first number drawn….number54

Lucky Number 54!!!  Elaine R…. was the first winner!  She chose the Haunted House Candle Holder

The second lucky number drawn…..number3

Number 3 – Chris Klinger from Desings By CK got to chose between the two hand painted ornaments.  Chris chose the Jack-O-Lantern Ornament.

The third number picked was…….number44

Lucky 44!  That was Piper from Woodland Wonderings!  She will receive the Mean Black Cat ornament.

Then there’s the business of the Kitten’s name!  We got some really creative and unique name ideas, like Midnight, Pywacket, Poe, Tolstoy, Anaken Vadar, Lucky and Harry (Harry Potter)….  Now it is up our young man of the home to give the finally vote for kitty’s name……… I will post the name when the decision is made!  There is also good news regarding the cats….they are all getting along!  I wouldn’t have bet on that, but I am delighted that they are being good with each other, so far.  ;)

I had a great time this weekend visiting all the blog parties!  So many creative people all having a blast putting together their versions of a Hauntingly Magical Halloween Celebration! A special thanks to Vanessa at A Fanciful Twist for organizing the event and as always having one of the most creative and beautiful blogs.  Thank You So Much!
